The purpose of this study was to create exercises with visual stimuli and examine their impact on motor response speed, as well as learning chest handling skills in basketball. The study involved a sample of 12 first-stage students from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Babylon. These students were enrolled in a subject that included basketball skills. Prior to the intervention, the sample was balanced through pre-tests.
The motor response speed test in the four directions by Nelson was modified and prepared by the researcher. Scientific foundations were adhered to, ensuring the suitability of the test for both the educational environment and the research sample. The visual vision exercises were implemented over a 4-week period, in two units of educational instruction. After completing the exercise curriculum, post-tests were conducted on the research sample. The data collected was compiled and organized into tables, then processed statistically using the SPSS statistical package.
Several significant conclusions were reached based on the analysis of the data. The most noteworthy finding was that the prepared exercises had a significant positive effect on improving motor response speed and learning chest handling skills among the students in the research sample. Consequently, the researcher recommends the utilization of visual vision exercises to enhance physical and coordination abilities, including motor response speed and basketball skill acquisition such as chest handling, particularly for female students within the research sample.
