Abstract

The research aims to explore the relationship between proprioception and the skills of free throw shooting and chest passing in female basketball players. The significance of the research lies in examining and analyzing the strong correlation between proprioception and the effectiveness of free throw shooting and chest passing in basketball. The focus is on how players' ability to perceive motor details influences the accuracy of free throw shooting and the effectiveness of chest passing. The research problem revolves around the essential nature of free throw shooting and chest passing skills in basketball performance, prompting the researchers to select this topic for study. However, the relationship between these skills and proprioception remains a worthy area for in-depth investigation, as researchers question how proprioception affects the development and performance of these skills in female players. The researcher poses the research problem through questions: Is there a positive relationship between proprioceptive ability and the accuracy and effectiveness of free throw shooting and chest passing? How does proprioceptive ability contribute to improving the coordination and accuracy of free throw shooting and chest passing skills in female players? As for the research methodology, the researcher employed a descriptive approach, suitable for addressing the research problem. The descriptive approach provides a detailed understanding of the interrelationships within society, its trends, inclinations, and developments, offering insights into current realities and future predictions. The research community consisted of second-year female students, totaling 80, from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, divided into two sections (A and B). The research sample, comprising 30 students from section B, was selected through random sampling, representing 37.5% of the original population. The methodology also involved conducting a survey, implementing test procedures for proprioception and the skills of free throw shooting and chest passing, administering pre-test and post-test assessments, and tabulating the results using appropriate statistical methods aligned with the research objectives. The findings were presented, analyzed, and scientifically discussed based on scholarly sources. The researcher concluded that there is a significant relationship between proprioception and the performance of free throw shooting and chest passing in basketball. However, there was variation in proprioceptive ability and the accuracy of free throw shooting and chest passing skills among female players.
