The distinct roles of professional goals in confronting cases of career regret among physical education teachers in secondary schools of the Baghdad Al-Karkh I Education Directorate

Abstract

The research aims to do the following:

- Preparing two tools to measure the research variables. The first measures the nature of the professional goals set by physical education teachers, and the second measures the career regrets of these teachers. The two tools measure the variables from the point of view of physical education teachers.

- Identifying the nature of the professional goals that physical education teachers set for their work from their point of view.

- Identifying the level of career remorse expressed by physical education teachers for choosing the profession of teaching physical education from their point of view.

- Identifying the roles played by the professional goals set by physical education teachers in confronting cases of career remorse.

The researcher used the descriptive approach in both survey and correlation methods. The teachers of physical education in the secondary schools of the Baghdad Education Directorate were the first Karkh, who numbered (800) teachers within the Baghdad Karkh I Education Directorate. The researcher chose the main research sample from the research community in a random manner. Its members are (260) physical education teachers. The researcher divided the main research sample into a group of sub-samples (the exploratory study, the statistical analysis sample, and the final application sample). With numbers (10, 150, 100) physical education teachers, respectively. To collect data the researcher prepared two tools of measurement. The first measures the professional goals of teachers of physical education. While the second tool measures of career regret. With several (10) items for each tool, and after statistical analysis through a set of statistical methods such as the arithmetic mean, the simple correlation coefficient, the percentage, and the Spearman-Pearson equation, And the simple linear regression coefficient, the researcher concluded a set of results:

Physical education teachers in secondary schools affiliated with the Karkh Education I Directorate have a high level in terms of the professional goals they set for themselves from their personal point of view.

Physical education teachers in secondary schools affiliated with the Karkh I Education Directorate have a moderate level of job regret from their personal point of view.

- There is a significant correlation between the variables of professional goals and professional regret, with an acceptable role for professional goals in confronting career regret for physical education teachers.
