The present study investigates probing thinking and its correlation with the professional performance of teachers in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the Open Educational College, Najaf Center. The primary objective is to discern the presence of this cognitive skill within the research sample and explore its association with their professional competence. Employing a descriptive approach through the survey method, the research sample comprises teachers from the specified department, achieving a full representation of the research community with 100% participation from the 11 teaching staff members.
Utilizing two scales, probing thinking, and professional performance, previously validated in similar studies with expert input, the researcher ascertained the approval of their use in the current study after necessary adjustments. Upon completion of all scientific research procedures, several conclusions were drawn, including:
- The level of probing thinking among teachers in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the Open Educational College, Najaf Center, is deemed good, exerting a negative influence on the professional performance of this group.
- A significant relationship exists between probing thinking and the professional performance of teachers in the specified department, as evidenced by the study's results.
Based on these findings, the researcher proposes the following recommendations:
- Extend the application of standards to diverse samples and institutions.
Teachers in the Physical Education and Sports Sciences Department at the Open Educational College, Najaf Center, can enhance their positive aspects by incorporating insights gained from this study.
